Help for those struggling with heating oil payments
Added at 15:03 on 23 March 2026
The following information was sent by our Somerset Councillor, Bob Filmer.
Somerset Council is working in partnership with Citizens Advice Somerset to ensure vital support is available for those struggling with heating oil costs.
From now, a dedicated phoneline will be available for Somerset residents who can’t afford the rising cost of heating oil.
If you are aware of residents who are struggling to pay for the rising price of heating oil and require urgent financial assistance, please direct them to Citizens Advice Somerset’s freephone 0808 278 7842. Once they have called the number, they should select option 3 and leave their name and number and a member of the Household Support team will be in touch to provide assistance.
This initiative is delivered by Citizens Advice through the Help Through Winter Fund, funded by the Household Support Fund.
Please share this information widely within your communities to ensure those in need can access essential support.
Residents can also find support here:
• The Council’s #Help4All scheme
• Community Hubs network
• Cost of living support for Somerset residents
